Gato’s Symposium
This print came straight out of my travel sketchbook after a trip to Greece. It’s inspired by an informal cat park with the same name.
When I saw it on the map, I couldn’t help but think: If Gato’s Symposium were a cat cafe, what would it look like?
I drew inspiration from Greek pottery and lettering, as well as a symposium scene depicted in a fresco in the Tomb of the Diver.
I’ll admit I thought symposium was just an academic conference, but in ancient Greek it referred to the part of a banquet that comes after a meal — it’s derived from the word for drinking together!
